From October 6, 2023, to January 10, 2024, Dhaka DocSchool embarked on an inspiring journey with its Creative Documentary Course 3, shaping the talents of 12 aspiring filmmakers. Held across 20 classes, including an insightful editing practical demonstration by Chaitalee Samaddar, this immersive program unfolded at the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy and Dhaka DocLab Office, serving as hubs for creative exploration and learning.
The course boasted a stellar lineup tutors from Bangladesh and India, including Nilotpol Majumdar, Zahidur Rahim Anjan, Farid Ahmed, Humayra Bilkis, Rakibul Hasan, Farid Ahmed, Nahid Masud, Sankhajit Bishwas & more.Additionally, two days of group mentoring enriched the experience, providing invaluable guidance and fostering collaboration among participants. Mentors: Tasmiah Afrin Mou, Rafiqul Anowar Russell, and Mehedi Mostofa, whose wisdom and mentorship helped shape the creative vision of the budding filmmakers.
The culmination of the course was the production of five remarkable documentaries, each offering a unique perspective on various societal issues. Rokib Al Hasan's "Pollution & Life" Parth Sarathi Sen Gupta’s "Beyond The Biological Bond," Taslima Leeza’s Tasting death before death, Living In Isolation By Nirtesh C Datt & Zahir Monon’s Bramhaputter Konna these documentaries showcased the participants' talent and commitment to storytelling.
The closing program, held on February 10, 2024, was a momentous occasion, graced by the presence of Nasiruddin Yousuf Bacchu, Trustee of Dhaka DocLab, and Liaquat Ali Lucky as the main guest. Junayed Halim, Editor, and Teacher, Rakibul Hasan (Cinematographer, also the Course Coordinator & teacher of Dhaka DocSchool ) added his expertise to the event, creating an atmosphere of celebration and appreciation.
Certificates were awarded to the participants in recognition of their dedication and achievements throughout the course. The highlight of the evening was the screening of the short documentaries created by the participants, captivating the audience with their compelling narratives and creative storytelling.
