On 14 September 2025, Dhaka DocLab hosted a special talk titled “How to Co-produce with France” at the Seminar Room (Level-6) of the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. The session featured renowned French producer Laura Briand, who shared her extensive experience and insights into the world of international co-productions, particularly with France. The session was conducted by Arifur Rahman, producer and founder of Goopy Bagha Productions Ltd, and focused on practical aspects of working with French partners—ranging from funding and regulations to creative collaboration models. The talk concluded with a Q&A session, allowing participants to engage directly with the speakers and gain deeper insight into the intricacies of international co-production.
Dhaka DocLab alumni and acclaimed Bangladeshi filmmaker Humaira Bilkis was also present and shared her personal experience of co-producing with France, offering attendees a grounded and inspiring example of how such collaborations can take shape. The event brought together a diverse group of fiction and non-fiction filmmakers, producers, and industry professionals.
The session was further enriched by the presence of Baptiste Lebret, Cultural Attaché at the Embassy of France in Bangladesh, and M. François Chambraud, Director of Alliance Française de Dhaka, whose participation underscored the growing cultural and cinematic ties between France and Bangladesh.
