Non Fiction Storytelling Workshop for Women Filmmakers
New Project Devlopment Landscape

Dhaka DocLab is thrilled to announce the Documentary Storytelling Workshop for Women Filmmakers, which will take place from 22nd to 25th May 2025. This workshop is specifically designed for aspiring women filmmakers in Bangladesh, offering them the essential tools and guidance they need to succeed in the documentary filmmaking industry. The workshop aims to address the gender gap in the Bangladeshi film industry, where women’s participation remains low, and provide a supportive environment for women to share their stories, receive feedback, and develop their documentary projects. With mentorship from both local and international experts, participants will have the opportunity to refine their projects and enhance their filmmaking skills.

The workshop will feature interactive sessions where participants can share their ideas and receive feedback, group mentoring, one-on-one sessions with industry experts, film screenings to discuss key examples, and masterclasses on key aspects of documentary filmmaking. The workshop will be led by renowned mentors such as Nilotpal Majumdar, Deepa Dhanraj, Farid Ahmed, Elizabeth D Costa (Bangladesh), Koval Bhatia (special session on international distribution), and Sara Afreen (special session on storytelling and narrative techniques). These sessions are designed to empower women filmmakers in Bangladesh to take their documentary projects to the next level and connect with established professionals in the field.

The deadline for submissions is 15th May 2025, so aspiring women filmmakers are encouraged to apply soon. This is a unique opportunity to develop documentary projects in a collaborative and inspiring environment.
